Polarized Bamboo Sunglasses

Hammock & Palms Sunglasses are perfect for both men and women. Our sunglasses company takes great pride in providing our customers with a wonderful product and even better service. All of our lenses are polarized, and all of our 100% bamboo sunglasses float on water. So before you head to the beach, we invite you to browse through our online store and find the perfect pair of sunglasses to help you soak up the rays.

Our Polarization Process: 7 Layer Protection

Our UV 400, TAC polarized lenses are made of a 7 layer composite. The first layer is a polarizing layer, which is the core of the lens. It provides more than 99% of the polarizing effect, removing the vast majority of the glare you experience while enjoying the outdoors. The second and third layers are for bonding, and also serve to increase the lenses’ resistance to harsh environments (heat, bending, cutting, etc). The fourth and fifth layers (perhaps the most important of all) are the UV-absorbing layers. Over 99% of the sun’s ultraviolet rays are absorbed by the fourth and fifth layers. The sixth and seventh layers are the shock-absorption layers. They increase the lenses’ overall impact resistance and toughness. These layers also assist in preventing scratches, effectively extending the life of polarized lenses.

From Raw Bamboo to Hammock & Palms: The Transformation

The process starts with harvesting the bamboo stalks. After harvesting, the bamboo stalks are boiled for an extended period of time (approximately 2-3 hours). Boiling the bamboo increase its already naturally occuring strength and stability. The hardened bamboo is then pressure treated and flattened into workable sheets. Afterwards, the pressure treated sheets of bamboo are left outdoors to dry in the sun. After the bamboo is dried, it is brought indoors and ready to be cut and formed into your favorite style of Hammock & Palms Sunglasses!

Bamboo Sunglasses

“Island Drifters” Collection: 100% Natural Bamboo

All frames in this category are made with real bamboo. Everything but the polarized lenses and spring-loaded hinges are bamboo. As such, no 2 pairs are identical. Each piece of bamboo has it’s own naturally occuring patterns and grains. The same characteristics that make our natural bamboo sunglasses unique, also make them beautiful. Rest assured that you will own a pair of sunglasses that are truly unique to you. They are available in natural bamboo tones or shades of blue, brown, or black. Did we mention they float!?! That’s right! Never lose your sunglasses to the unforgiving waters again.

“Sand and Sun” Collection: Two-Toned Sunglasses

Add a splash of color to your sunglasses selection! While only the arms of the sunglasses in this category are bamboo, the vibrant frame color options will provide you with a great looking pair of sunglasses for any occasion. Our Two-Toned Bamboo Sunglasses come in white, black, teal, blue, red, and tortoise. If you’re looking for a pair of floating sunglasses, be sure to choose from our “Isand Drifters” Collection.
